To provide a method for treating an exhaust gas from cement manufacturing equipment by which chlorinated organic compounds such as dioxins in the exhaust gas can be decomposed efficiently to be made harmless, merely by adding simple and low-cost means.
The method for treating the exhaust gas includes (A) a step of treating the exhaust gas from the cement manufacturing equipment using a dust collector 9 to collect dust containing chlorinated organic compounds and discharging the exhaust gas after the treatment by the dust collector 9, (B) a step of charging a part of the dust collected by the dust collector 9 into a rotary kiln 5 and (C) a step of charging the remainder of the dust into a place having a temperature below 800C inside the cement manufacturing equipment and the amount of the dust charged in step (B) is set to be such that, under conditions of supplying the dust continuously in each of step (B) and step (C), the concentration of chlorinated organic compound in the exhaust gas after the treatment by the dust collection means decreases with the lapse of time.
