To provide a method for producing a high-pressure light fuel gas having good combustibility in which high-temperature and high-pressure water and a heavy oil are subjected to a catalytic reaction in a catalytic reactor to convert the heavy oil into a light fraction and demetallize the heavy oil.
The high-temperature and high-pressure water and the heavy oil are subjected to the catalytic reaction in the catalytic reactor to settle and separate a heavy oil fraction not dissolving in the high-temperature and high-pressure water from a hydrocarbon gas and a light oil fraction dissolving in the high-temperature and high-pressure water. The resultant heavy oil fraction is then subjected to disposal by combustion or incineration without further reforming the heavy oil fraction.
