To provide a method for treating organic wastes by which garbage is eliminated by utilizing the performance of microorganism and to provide an apparatus for the method.

This apparatus for treating organic wastes comprises a casing 10 having storage tank 1, stirring impellers 11 installed in the storage tank 1 in a freely rotatable manner, a temperature adjusting means to adjust the temperature in the storage tank 1, an oxygen supplying means to supply oxygen to the storage tank 1, and a deodorizing apparatus provided with an ozone generator to deodorize a waste gas emitted in the storage tank 1. A plurality of small wood pieces in which microorganism is implanted as to survive are put in the storage tank 1 of the apparatus, garbage is thrown, the temperature of the storage tank 1 is kept at a prescribed temperature, and the stirring impellers 11 are rotated while oxygen being supplied to eliminate garbage.
