To provide a method of treating organic waste water by which with a treating activity is enhanced by increasing the number of nurse cells (colony count) or the number of nitrification bacteria using uniform fine particles and increasing an oxygen consuming rate and nitrification rate.
This method of treating organic waste water comprises: a gas-liquid contact process 1 having a gas-liquid contact tank aerobically and biologically treating organic waste water; and a solid-liquid separation process 2 having a solid-liquid separation means separating sludge suspension sent from the gas-liquid contact process 1 into sludge and treated water. Powder of inorganic solid matter with an average particle size (longer diameter) of 10 μm or less and with a distribution thereof 70 wt.% or more within ±5 μm, is added to the organic waste water or sludge in the gas-liquid contact process 1 directly or indirectly for coexisting.
