Abstract:

PURPOSE: To treat various treating liquids at many stages by drawing a first treating liquid to the position of the sample fixed by capillary flow between a sample holding surface and an opposed surface bringing it into canact with the sample, holding it, and similarly drawing a second treating liquid after excluding it.

CONSTITUTION: A microscope slide 10 for holding a sample has a sample holding front surface 12, a first lower edge 14, a rear surface 16 and an upper edge 18. A thin piece sample 20 is provided at the lower part of the surface 12. The adhesive surface 24 of a shim 22 is adhered to the upper part of the front surface of te slide 10, and the opposite side adhesive surface 26 is adhered to the opposed surface 32 of the slide 30 of the opposed element. A capillary gap 40 is formed between the surfaces 12 and 32. The slide pair hold the liquid received from the droplet in contact with the lower air gap by capillarity, in contact with the sample 20, remains in the gap 40 for an arbitrary time, and when the slide pair drop on absorbing material. The liquid is absorbed into the material to be completely excluded from the gap 40, and the pair can be transferred to next treating liquid operation.
