To provide a compound and a composition for use in the treatment of cancerous and noncancerous tumors in animals, particularly in mammals, and most particularly in human.
Provided is the use of nordihydroguaiaretic acid derivatives, especially the use of the derivatives comprising substitutes of natural amino acids for treatment of tumors and viral infections. Provided is the compound and composition for treatment of cancerous and noncancerous tumors in animals, particularly in mammals (most particularly in humans). A new nordihydroguaiaretic acid derivative which inhibits proliferation of tumors, is provided according to the situation. The nordihydroguaiaretic acid derivative is the compound represented by formula (I), wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently an -OH group, -OCH3 group, -O(C=O)CH3, or amino acid residue, but each is not an -OH group at the same time.
