PURPOSE: To remove ash from a waste engine oil by making use of a simple apparatus to regenerate the waste engine oil as a fuel oil, by conducting a particular reaction of a waste engine oil in a batch reaction tank, roughly separating the reaction mixture into three phases in a horizontal three-phase separation decanter, and separating and purifying the obtained light liq. component in a separating plate type vertical centrifuge.
CONSTITUTION: A waste engine oil is introduced into a batch reaction tank 1 and heated at 70W100°C, and phosphoric acid and a surfactant are added thereto. They are stirred for mixing, and an aq. alkali soln. and extracting water are added thereto. They are stirred for mixing. Further, a coagulant is added thereto, and they are stirred for mixing. The waste engine oil treated in this step of reaction is treated in a screw conveyer horizontal three-phase separation decanter 7 to roughly separate the engine oil into a sludge component, a heavy liq. component (water) and a light liq. component (oil). The light liq. component is treated in a separating plate vertical centrifuge 11 to roughly separate it into a sludge component, a heavy liq. component (water) and a light liq. component (oil). According to the above method, the ash contained in a waste engine oil can be removed with a simple apparatus to regenerate the engine oil as a high-quality fuel oil.
