To provide a method for effectively treating water containing an anionic surface active agent.
The water containing the alkaline anionic surface active agent is first continuously or intermittently supplied with an ozone-containing minute bubble whose diameter is 50 μm or below. Then the pH value of the water is brought down to 5 or below to make the anionic surface active agent dissolving or dispersing in the water precipitate as a solid content to separate from the water. This method can favorably be adopted for treating the water containing the anionic surface active agent which is difficult to be treated because the agent has poor biodegradability or because the agent has high fizziness in the water, which makes an aeration process unapplicable, even if the agent has biodegradability.
