Title:
METHOD OF TREATMENT TO MAKE AROMATIC POLYSULFONE MOLDED PRODUCT HYDROPHILIC
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6351129
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent a molded product from deforming and deteriorating and at the same time enhance the hydrophilic nature of its surface by a method wherein the treatment to make aromatic polysulfone hydrophilic, which contains a polymer having both hydrophobic part and hydrophilic part, is performed at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of aromatic polysulfone.

CONSTITUTION: A molded product concerned is made of resin, which is a mixture of aromatic polysulfone and a polymer having both hydrophobic part and hydrophilic part in an arbitrary mixing ratio, preferably in the mixing ratio of 50 % by weight or more of the aromatic polysulfone. The hydrophobic part of said polymer consists of a water-insoluble substance, the main chain and/of side chain of which contain alkyl group, allyl group, aromatic ring or the like. Its hydrophilic part consists of a water-soluble substance, the main chain or side chain of which contains alcohol, carboxylic/acid, sulfonic acid, ether, pyrrolidone ring or the like. The polymer is water-insoluble, because the bond between its hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts is covalent bonding. Normally, the heat treatment of said molded product is performed by leaving it as it is, or preferably immersing it in a hydrophilic substance or placed it under atmosphere at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of aromatic polysulfone, preferably at the temperature of 60W170°C for a necessary period of time, preferably for from 10 seconds to 6 hours.
