Abstract:

PURPOSE: To check a voltage delay during storage as well as to make a build- up capacity better in time of operation, by making a thionyl chloride-lithic battery perform a certain amount of recovery discharge regularly or unperiodically.

CONSTITUTION: A circuit from a thionyl chloride-lithic battery and a commercial power circuit are changed over with a switch, and power from the lithic battery is fed to the external load in time of power failure. A recovery discharge circuit consisting of a timer T, a relay Ry and a fixed resistance R2 is connected to this thionyl chloridelithic battery, while recovery discharge takes place regularly in time of use of the commercial power or unperiodically before discharging. With this method, a lithium chloride passive state film produced on a lithium surface is broken and film thickness is kept up at a fixed extent or less all the time, thus a voltage delay is checked down to below the fixed value.
