Abstract:
To provide a method for modifying porous mechanical components by using an electro-rheological(ER) or magneto-rheological(MR) fluid consisting of magnetic particles or a suspension thereof.
At least one porous metallic component 24 or 26 having a plurality of pores 28 sufficient to receive the ER or MR fluid within themselves is prepared, and the component is impregnated with the ER or MR fluid 10. The two components 24 and 26 can be combined and integrated. Moreover, a magnetic field or electric field can be applied to the two components.
