Abstract:
PURPOSE: To utilize terephthalic acid in waste liquor from the alkali content reducing treatment of a polyester fabric as a carbon material
CONSTITUTION: Insoluble matter in waste liquor from the alkali content reducing treatment of a polyester fabric is removed and the waste liquor is adjusted to pH 7-12 by adding hydrochloric acid. An aq. calcium chloride soln. is then added to deposit terephthalic acid as calcium salt and this calcium salt is separated by filtration dried and converted into a carbon material by carbonization.
