Abstract:
To surely weld a block to a diaphragm used for a diaphragm chuck holding a workpiece while preventing deformation or cracking.SOLUTION: This method for welding a block to a diaphragm includes: preparing a deformable thin-plate diaphragm 13 made of alloy tool steel, a block 13b made of alloy tool steel or carbon steel, having a plate thickness thicker than the diaphragm 13, and welded to the diaphragm 13, a stainless steel filler rod, and silver solder; arc-welding the block 13b to the prescribed position of the diaphragm 13 by means of the stainless steel filler rod; checking the presence of a crack 15a of a formed welding bead 15; and adding the silver solder to the stainless steel filler rod within a range where the crack 15a has occurred to form the welding bead 15 made of an alloy of a stainless steel filler rod and silver solder by moving a welding torch while mixing the welded stainless steel filler rod with the silver solder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
