Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To weld and join a metal body strongly with a high degree of sealing to a hole of a metal plate, when welding and joining the metal body such as a cap attached so as to block the hole provided on the metal plate of mission oil pan material and the like.SOLUTION: Provided is a welding method for resistance-welding a metal plate and a metal body after drilling a punching hole in the metal plate, inserting the metal body into the punching hole and applying welding current between the metal body and the metal plate. In the method, a punch is pressed into the punching hole of the hole-punched metal plate upward from below to expand the punching hole and open the end face of the punching hole toward the inserting direction of the metal body, thereby forming an opening part. Thereafter, the metal body, whose tip end in the inserting direction has a step part formed, is pressed into the opening part to close the opening part with the metal body. Then, in the process of the closing, during pressing in or after pressing in the metal body, welding energization is performed between the metal body and the metal plate, preferably by using electrodes.
