Abstract:

To manufacture a metallic honeycomb body having stable quality by increasing winding tension according to the increase of winding diameter, in a main winding process after forming the winding core part.

A tension giving device 7f and a tension detecting roller 7t are arranged in a supplying passage with transferring rollers 5a, 5b, 5c for supplying a metallic flat foil 1 unwinded from a pay-off reel if into a winding device 6. Further, a tension meter 10 and a winding diameter measuring meter 11 are arranged to measure the winding tension and the winding diameter. These measured signals are inputted into an arithmetic unit 12 and the winding tension control condition according to the winding diameter of the metallic honeycomb body 4 wound into the winding device 6 is calculated and inputted to the tension applying device 7f to control the winding tension of the metallic flat foil 1. Further, the winding tension is increased according to the increase of the winding diameter, and a fixed contacting surface pressure is applied to each contacting part of the metallic flat foil and a metallic waving foil and also, the contacting length is made to the constant. By this method, the quality at the joined part can stably be secured.
