Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate the inspection of the depth of groove after grooving and to reduce the cost of parts by measuring resistance to working during grooving with a load detector by providing a load detector between a Z base and a θ base.
SOLUTION: By moving the Z base 18 of a Z axis driving device 13 in the direction of the arrow C while rotating a grooving tool 1 in the direction of the arrow A at constant speed, the grooving tool 1 is allowed to bite into the inner peripheral part of a sleeve 17. Because resistance to grooving at this time is naturally generated as the reaction force in the opposite direction to the direction in which a rolling ball 2 is advanced, the component of its force is detected with a load detector 19. This load is approximately proportioned to the relative bite amount of the rolling ball 2 and the sleeve 17, that is, the depth of groove. Consequently, when load detection resistance during grooving is measured with the load detector 19, the depth of groove is simply determined. The sleeve 17 on which the load out of an allowed load range is detected is excluded because the depth of groove is defective.
