Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for reliably controlling access to geographic areas, such as buildings and rooms.SOLUTION: Luminaires L1-LM disposed near an access device (door) transmit a door-specific, time-varying hashed door identifier value as a visible light signal. A mobile device detects the transmitted hashed door identifier value and sends an access request via a wireless signal. The access request includes a value generated from the hashed door identifier received by the mobile device and a mobile device identifier. An access authorization device (server) having received the wireless signal determines, from information in the access request and stored information indicating which mobile devices have authority to access which doors, if access to the door corresponding to the received hashed door identifier should be granted. The access authorization device transmits an access grant/access denial command to the access device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
