Abstract:
Process for removing ruthenium by distilling ruthenium tetroxide from ruthenate-containing solutions, comprises: (a) treating the ruthenate-containing solution with an oxidizing agent; (b) distilling off the formed ruthenium tetroxide; and (c) absorbing the ruthenium tetroxide from step (b) in hydrochloric acid, where the oxidizing agent is recycled into the step (a) following step (c). An independent claim is included for a device for carrying out the processes, comprising: (i) a reactor (1) with stirrer (4), gas inlet (5) and gas outlet; (ii) at least one scrubber (2) connected in series downstream with the gas outlet (6) via line (7); (iii) at least one gas absorber (3) connected in series downstream with at least one scrubber (2) via lines (8); (iv) at least one line (9) from the optionally last absorber for recycling into the gas inlet of the reactor (1) or into a further module or into a facility for off-gas treatment.
