Abstract:

To provide methods for the racemization and/or the trans-rich formation of a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid.

The methods for the racemization and/or the trans-rich formation of the vinyl group-substituted cyclopropanecarboxylic acid comprise reacting a vinyl group-substituted cyclopropanecarboxylic acid represented by formula (1) (R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group which may be substituted, an aryl group which may be substituted or an alkoxycarbonyl group which may be substituted and R1 and R2 may be bonded to form a ring; X is hydroxy group, a halogen atom, a 1-20C alkoxy group which may be substituted or an aryloxy which may be substituted) with a nitric acid compound or a nitrogen oxide.
