Abstract:

To provide a method for reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide over a long period of time in a method for selectively oxidizing carbon monoxide by bringing a raw material gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen into contact with a catalyst.

The method enables the reduction of the concentration of carbon monoxide over a long period of time by using a catalyst that supports at least Ru on a carrier composed of an inorganic oxide containing at least one kind selected from alumina, silica, zirconia and titania, and by reversing the flow direction of the raw material gas at the time when the concentration of carbon monoxide in the produced gas has become 10 ppm by volume or higher.
