PURPOSE: To obtain a paint film having excellent properties with better coating workability, by a procedure in which a base material is coated with a metallic paint composition composed of an isocyanate-modified saturated polyester resin and a metal powder, further with a clear paint composition composed of an acrylic resin having OH groups, and then cured.

CONSTITUTION: A base material is coated with (A) a metallic paint composition containing an isocyanate-modified polyester resin of an average molecular weight of approx. 2,000W50,000 and (B) an amino resin or an isocyanate compound e.g., hexamethylene diisocyanate, in a proportion (weight) of A/B=95/5W60/40, together with an appropriate amount of Al powder, further with a clear paint composition containing (C) an acrylic resin having OH groups, e.g., a copolymer of hydroxyalkyl acrylate and acrylic acid, and (D) an amino resin or an isocyanate compound in a proportion (weight) of C/D=95/5W60/40, and then cured by a curing agent.
