To provide a micro fluid control mechanism the whole configuration of which is made compact, and also to provide a microchip using the same.
The micro fluid control mechanism has at least one or more first micro fluid paths having both ends opened to the atmosphere, at least one or more second micro fluid paths having one end opened to atmosphere and the other end arranged adjacent to a position on the halfway of the first micro fluid path, and a valve which communicates the position on the halfway of the first micro fluid path with the other end of the second micro fluid path or blocks communication between them by its opening and closing operation. When the valve is closed to block the communication between the position on the halfway of the first micro fluid path and the other end of the second micro fluid path, liquid is dripped on one end of the first micro fluid path and injected into the first micro fluid path due to capillary action, and then the valve is opened to communicate the position on the halfway of the first micro fluid path with the other end of the second micro fluid path. Then, the liquid in the first micro fluid path flows into the second micro fluid path due to capillary action.
