Abstract:
To provide an improved low temperature sterilization protocol for sterilizing a microbial cell at low temperature.SOLUTION: The protocol comprises three kinds of steps, namely, a first heating step, a second plateau step in which, cells are maintained at constant (maximum) temperature, and a third cooling step. The heating and cooling steps are performed quickly, temperature of cells are 40-80°C for 30 minutes or shorter minutes, at the heating step. The heating step is performed at least at 0.5°C/minute, the cooling step is performed at least at -0.5°C/minute. The plateau maximum temperature is 70-85°C. In a graph of time (t, minute) to temperature (T,°C), by plotting the low temperature sterilization protocol, a trapezoid comprising a region of less than 13000°C minute, is acquired. In addition to the result (and cost reduction) in smaller energy input, an oil with better quality (and hardly subjected to oxidation) is obtained, and the oil has a peroxide value (POV) of less than 1.5 and an anisidine value (AnV) less than 1.0.SELECTED DRAWING: None
