Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject microbial strain consisting of a biologically pure culture product of a microbial strain Streptomyces sp. ATCC 39143 and having antibacterial and antitumor activities.

CONSTITUTION: The objective microorganism capable of producing an antitumor antibiotic substance is a biologically pure culture product of preferably microbial strain Streptomyces sp. ATCC 39143 capable of producing a collectable amount of an antibiotic substance BBM-2040 when cultured in an aqueous nutrient medium containing assimilable nitrogen and carbon sources.
