Abstract:
To newly isolate a DHA-producing bacterium which grows at 20°C or higher and has an ability of biosynthesizing DHA to enable the cloning of DHA-biosynthesizing genes having an ability of biosynthesizing DHA at 20°C or higher.
This bacterium belongs to the genus Colwellia, and produces DHA-containing phospholipid. The upper limit of temperature for the bacterium to produce the compound is 22°C under an ambient pressure. The method for producing DHA is also provided, wherein the microorganism is cultured, and a lipid fraction is isolated from the obtained culture.
