Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganismal strain having the ability to degrade a cellulose material by fermentation and withstanding the temperature rise caused by the fermentation, to provide a method of the treatment for degrading the cellulose material using the same, and to provide a method for producing ethanol from such a cellulose material using the strain.SOLUTION: The microorganismal strain is Bacillus licheniformis strain, which has the following properties: (1) surviving and proliferating at temperatures of 38-45°C; and (2) producible of a reducing sugar by degrading cellulose.
