PURPOSE: To produce a synthetic, non-composited microporous membrane which comprises a continuous array of crystalline molecular sieve material obtained by crystallizing and then removing a thin layer of a molecular sieve material on non porous surface and to utilize the membrane as a catalyst and a high precision separation material for liquid or gaseous mixtures.
CONSTITUTION: By crystallizing a thin layer of a molecular sieve material on non porous surface and removing it, a synthetic, non-composited microporous membrane which comprises a continuous array of crystalline molecular sieve material is produced. The oxide molar ratio of the molecular sieve material is as shown in the formula X2O3:nYO2 (X is A, B, Fe and/or Ga; Y is Si, Ga and/or Ti; (n) is at least 2). This membrane may be used as a catalyst or a high precision separation membrane for liquid or gaseous mixtures.
