PURPOSE: To freely change the polarized waves of radio waves to be radiated by providing a diode switch which is turned on and off by means of an electrical signal, or a light-receiving element whose transmitting phase changes by means of the intensity of light beams in the middle of two microstrip lines.
CONSTITUTION: The radio waves which are made incident from a feed point 1 are inputted to switched line type phase shifters 6a and 6b in the same amplitude and the same phase. The radio waves inputted to the switched line type phase shifter 6a are transmitted in the line of l1. Consequently, the polarized waves of the radio waves radiated from an upper microstrip patch antenna 3 comes to right circularly polarized waves. For making linearly polarized waves, the switched line type phase shifters are operated so that the radio waves are transmitted through the microstrip lines 6a1 and 6b1 or 6a2 and 6b2. Thus, the driving phase of the microstrip patch antenna can be changed to 0° or 90° and the polarized waved of the radio waves to be radiated can be changed to the circularly polarized waves or to the linearly polarized waves by the switched line type phase shifters.
