To determine a mileage from a start point with an extremely small error, to always display continuously when the mileage is displayed on a television relay screen or on a display panel, and to determine the correct mileage when returning to a normal course even if retreating running in the middle of the course, course deviation or a U-turn is performed, in a method wherein distances between plural positions on the course set beforehand are measured beforehand and the mileage is measured and outputted successively by a vehicle running along the course.
(a) The coordinate of the position along the course and the measured distances from the start point of the vehicle to a plurality of measured correction points are stored as a virtual map, and (b) the position coordinate of the vehicle accompanying a moving body is determined by a GPS receiver, and (c) the mileage [P] of the moving body is determined from the change of the position coordinate of the vehicle.
