Abstract:

To prevent rattle of a second tip while keeping a balance of cutting stress, to allow good machining even under a severe cutting condition, and to sufficiently keep a chip handling property, in a milling cutter allowing engraving cutting and capable of being used for heavy cutting.

This milling cutter C comprises a first tip 1 comprising a long cutting edge and a short cutting edge at a crossing ridge between a side surface and the upper surface and a second tip 2 comprising long cutting edges and a short cutting edge having a recessed shape in the upper surface view. The first tip 1 is mounted to a cutter body, the long cutting edge is an outer peripheral blade 11, and the short cutting edge is a bottom blade 12. The second tip 2 is mounted to the cutter body c1, one long cutting edge is a bottom blade 22, and the short cutting edge is outer peripheral blade 21. The rotation locus of the bottom blade 12 of the first tip 1 by substantially whole length overlies on the rotation locus of the bottom blade 22 of the second tip 2.
