Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a MIMO OFDM system which uses an independent space- time code for each of many transmission antenna sets.
SOLUTION: The MIMO OFDM system is provided with a plurality of space- time encoders for encoding each data block assigned with an independent space- time code. Converted data block signals are transmitted by a plurality of transmission antennas, and then are received by a plurality of receiving antennas. Prior to the maximum likelihood estimation, the received data is subjected to a prewhitening process. In one example of implementation, the performance of the system can be improved by using continuous interference offset. Channel parameter estimators can be improved by weighting estimated values of channel impulse response based on the deviation from the mean.
