Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate piping, and prevent vertical movement of a unit swing engine from exerting wrong effect on-supply of secondary air, by installing a control unit for control supply of secondary air, on the unit swing engine and setting the stem of the control valve in parallel to the direction coaxial with a pivot shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A unit swing engine 21 is supported vertically movably on a motorcycle body frame, through a pivot shaft 19. A control unit 52 for controlling supply of secondary air of an exhaust purifying device 51 is installed in the unit swing engine 21. The control unit 52 is provided with a reed valve 56 for supplying secondary air by its own opening/closing caused by means of exhaust plusation pressure, and an air cut valve for regulating supply of secondary air by negative pressure in an intake system. Axial direction of the air cut valve 57 is set in parallel to the coaxial direction with that of a pivot shaft 19 for supporting the unit swing engine 21. It is thus possible to prevent a control valve from fluttering even if the unit swing engine 21 is moved vertically.
