Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized domestic pig.SOLUTION: A miniaturized domestic pig has in a hetero-state, mutation in GHR gene generating an aberrant growth hormone receptor (GHR) protein. The mutation in the GHR gene is, for example, deletion mutation in an intracellular domain. A birth weight of the miniaturized domestic pig is apparently smaller than a wild-type domestic pig, and a miniaturized feature is maintained even after growth. The miniaturized domestic pig is very useful, especially, as an experimental animal in a medical area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
