To provide a minute height measuring method by image processing, capable of accurately measuring the height of a contactor which is a measuring object, even if the attitude of an inspection product, such as a connector, is changed.
In this method, a work W is moved in the horizontal direction on a block B, and each state, before and after that is imaged by one camera C, and the height h of a specific spot is measured. In the method, a mark M on the block B and a small region image of the work W are fetched, the contour of each image is processed to determine a nonlinear contour, and then its approximate linear contour is extracted, intersection points of the approximate linear contour are calculated, and the height h is calculated, based on the distance among the intersection points.
