To provide a minute recess machining device which can form a minute recess in an internal surface of a workpiece with good accuracy, contributes to reduction in machining cost, and can uniformly eliminate a heaping-up portion occurring on the periphery of the machined minute recess, over the entire internal surface of the workpiece, and to provide a minute recess machining method.
The minute recess machining device is formed of a holder 10 which is coaxially mounted on a spindle 3 and rotates together with the same in one body, a machining roller 11 which has minute protrusions/recesses on an external portion thereof, a roller support portion 13 which is mounted on the holder 10 and supports the machining roller 11 in a manner rotatable about a roller shaft 12 arranged in parallel with the main shaft 3, and a pressing mechanism 20 which applies a load to the roller support portion 13 in a radial direction of the machining roller 11 and presses the minute protrusions/recesses of the machining roller 11 to an internal surface Ba of a cylinder bore B. Herein the minute recess machining device has a burnishing roller 15 arranged in the roller support portion 13, for removing the heaping-up portion C occurring by the machining of the machining roller 11 at the beginning of the machining by the machining roller 11.
