Title:
MISFIRE DETECTION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3449170
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire detection device for an internal combustion engine which can remarkably improve accuracy of misfire detection.
SOLUTION: An engine ECU 30 calculates rotational fluctuation in each cylinder based on results of an engine speed sensor 25 which senses rotation of an engine 1. Misfire is determined when the difference between the result and a specified learned value exceeds a reference value to light a misfire indication lamp 12. The ECU holds reference values corresponding to the engine speeds as maps, and allows updating of the learned value as principle when a load relevant value is smaller than the reference value. The updating of the learned value is allowed within a wide range differently from a conventional technique where the learned value can be updated only at the time of fuel cutting. Chance of updating is remarkably increased for improving reliability of the learned value used for determination of misfire.
