To provide an MMC cylinder liner and its manufacturing method which meet both of mechanical characteristics required to a piston sliding surface and fusibility at the time of casting.
In the MMC cylinder liner 10 which includes a liner inner peripheral portion 11 made of a metal matrix composite formed by impregnating an Al-Si system alloy on a reinforcing material molding and a liner outer peripheral portion 12 made of an Al-Si system alloy, an Si concentration of the Al-Si system alloy impregnated on the reinforcing material molding of the liner inner peripheral portion 11 is made different from an Si concentration of the Al-Si system alloy of the liner outer peripheral portion 12 by lowering a feeding speed of molten metal before completion of filling to a cavity of a mould and raising a feeding speed of the molten metal after completion of filling thereto in the event of casting the Al-Si system alloy.
