PURPOSE: To have a favorable junction characteristic with respect to a ferromagnetic metallic thin film by a method wherein a composition range of Fe2O3, MnO and ZnO which are major components of Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite is specified in a a ternary system phase diagram and SnO2 is contained in solid solution at specific weight %.
CONSTITUTION: Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite is characterized in that the composition of Fe2O3, MnO and ZnO which are major components of the Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite and (a), (b) and (c) mol% respectively is within the range enclosed by 4 points [each point (a, b, c), each mole %] of A (53.0, 35.5, 11.5), B (56.0, 35.5, 8.5), C (57.0, 37.0, 6.0), and D (53.0, 41.0, 6.0) in a phase diagram, SnO2 is contained in solid solution at 0.1 to 6weight% in this composition, and a mean linear thermal expansion coefficient is more than 120×10-7/°C (a mean linear thermal expansion coefficeint at 30 to 300°C), and further a magnetic head has a magnetic core comprising this Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite and a ferromagnetic metallic thin film.
