Title:
MO-CONTAINING SINTERED HARD ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS54150312
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the strength of the title alloy by presintering a (Mo,W)C alloy followed by heating in an inert gas atmosphere at a specified temp. and press.

CONSTITUTION: Part of the W of a WC type hard alloy is replaced with Mo, forming a (Mo,W)C type alloy of reduced cost. This (Mo,W)C type hard alloy is presintered in the liquid phase appearing region and reheated to 1300W1500°C under 3W3,000 atm of an inert gas such as He, Ne, Ar, N2, NH3 or H2 to be sintered. Part of the WC of the sintered body is replaced with MoC, and the body is sintered using 3W50 wt% Co as a binding metal. By the sintering the MoC and WC form a solid soln. having a simple hexagonal type crystal structure. Since the binding phase undergoes no strain and thermal stress and has high deformation resistance, a (Mo,W)C sintered hard alloy of high strength is obtd.
