Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile entity, a direction estimation method, and a computer program with which it is possible to estimate a direction at night with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A mobile entity generates, from the day/time and position, a celestial arrangement indicating a celestial body observable in each direction at the current point of time, generates a celestial image in which a celestial body 3 is photographed by a camera (image-capturing device) 15, specifies a celestial body in the celestial arrangement that corresponds to a celestial body in the celestial image, estimates a direction in which the camera 15 faces from the direction of the specified celestial body in the celestial arrangement, and estimates the direction of the mobile entity. Since a direction in which a celestial body is observable can be calculated from the day/time and position with high accuracy, it is possible for the mobile entity to estimate a direction at night with high accuracy using a celestial body observable at night.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
