To miniaturize whole equipment while the number of pixels is made increased in an imaging device of a camera unit mounted on a portable telephone set and the like.

The camera unit is provided with a first change element 52 where a propagation direction of an incident object light is changed, variable lens optical systems 53 and 54, and an imaging device 60 which image-picks up an object, and the unit is mounted on the portable telephone set. In the camera unit, a second change element 59 changing the propagation direction of object light is disposed on a down stream-side of the first change element 52 and the variable lens optical systems 53 and 54, and the imaging device 60 is arranged on a down stream side of the second change element 59. Thus, the large imaging device is adopted while a size of equipment is miniaturized, and it is thinned since object light passing through the first change element is made incident on the imaging device after the propagation direction is changed again by the second change element.
