Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase number of available speech channels in a service area and to distribute a traffic in a zone effectively.
SOLUTION: When a call is received or sent to/from a mobile station 60 in standby in a radio zone 50, a base station controller 58 refers to a speech channel assignment table to acquire at first the number of assignable speech channels in the zone where the mobile station is located. The base station controller 58 discriminates whether a speech channel number is zero or not zero. In the case when it is not zero, a speech channel is selected from the zone of the mobile station and in the case of zero, the speech channel is selected from a relative overlay zone. Then the speech channels is set and when the setting of the speech channel is set up, the base station controller 58 informs information required for standby such as control channel information and restriction information to the mobile station 60 for the standby operation immediately after the end of the speech.
