PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To burn up an incombustible matter, e.g. fowl droppings, completely without relying upon an auxiliary fuel by standing an inner tube in the circular hollow section of a combustion furnace, arranging a combustion air supply nozzle for generating a swirling air flow in a tubular space being defined between them and disposing a preheating burner in the furnace.
SOLUTION: Inner wall 2a of a combustion furnace 1 has circular cross-section and an inner tube 4 is inserted vertically into the furnace thus forming a double wall structure. A refuse through-in opening 5 is made in the furnace wall 2 and an incombustible matter, e.g. fowl droppings, is thrown into the furnace through the opening 5. Further, a plurality of air supply nozzles 6 for supplying combustion air are fixed in parallel in the direction tangential to the furnace wall in order to generate a swirling air flow in a tubular space 2e defined by inner wall 2a and the inner tube 4. The tip nozzle of a burner 7 is projected through the furnace wall in order to raise the inner temperature of the furnace previously above the firing point of the refuse and an opening 3a for taking out dropping foreign matters is made in the furnace bottom of the tubular space 2e.
