To provide an information retrieval system which checks what kinds of traders exist as traders of prescribed types of industry around a certain mobile terminal and knows the telephone numbers and addresses of the traders.

An inputting part 102 inputs a type of industry and a retrieval distance range and a mobile terminal 100 sends them to a base station 120. A database 126 stores information such as the name, telephone number and address of the trader in each type of industry and the distance from the base station and retrieves a corresponding trader from information about the type of industry and the retrieval distance range which are sent from the terminal 100. And a retrieval result is sent to the terminal 100 and the terminal 100 shows the retrieval result on a display part 104.
