Abstract:
PURPOSE: To always undertake a cleaning work along a constant distance from a wall, and eliminate an effect of carpet texture for realizing the cleaning of an intended zone by detecting the wall forward of a cleaner body and changing the travel direction thereof at a position constant from the wall.
CONSTITUTION: A judging and processing section 8 controls a travel steering means 3 and causes a body 1 to move straight forward, while always comparing a travel distance value available from the means 3 with a longitudinal distance entered from a cleaning zone input means 9. The travel direction of the body 1 is changed by a frequency equal to the division of an entered transverse distance with a tread and plus one, thereby cleaning an inputted zone. When an obstacle detecting means 4 identifies any obstacle forward of the body 1 at a position B' after a straight travel along an inputted longitudinal distance, then, the section 8 causes the body 1 to near a position enough to change a travel direction against the obstacle within a total straight distance 1.1 times the longitudinal distance. When a cleaning work is undertaken for a specific zone having a flat wall at one side, the wall forward of the body 1 is detected and the direction thereof is changed at a constant distance from the wall. Thus, the cleaning work can be always undertaken at a constant distance from the wall, and an intended zone can be cleaned, regardless of the effect of carpet texture.
