To provide a system provided in an encoded frame in which frame interval information is substantially a MIMO system so that frame encoded information concerning a mode selection in a multi-input/multi-output device may be decoded by a device composed in conformity with IEEE802.11a Standards.

A signal processing method, particularly in a MIMO wireless communications system, is capable of receiving a DATA frame and responding with transmission of an ACK frame, that has a conventional structure in that it contains a reserved portion and an active portion, the ACK frame further containing, in the reserved portion, information defining a transmission mode selection message for interpretation by suitably configured communications apparatus. In such an apparatus, the message is interpreted as indication of the transmission mode among a plurality available, to be used in future transmissions of frames of information.
