To provide a model animal for obesity-related diabetes developing diabetes induced by obesity from a normal animal, an examination method for obesity treating medicine, diabetes prevention medicine and diabetes treating medicine by using the obesity-related diabetes model animal prepared by the method, a method for screening an obesity treating substance, a diabetes prevention substance, a diabetes treating substance, an abnormal sugar metabolism improving substance and a lipid metabolism improving substance and a substance acquired by the screening method.

The model animal is prepared by fattening a hybrid mouse derived from a mouse selected from C57BL/6 mouse, 129/J mouse, MA/J mouse, BALB/c mouse and AKR/J mouse and a mouse selected from DBA/2 mouse, C57BL/KsJ mouse, SWR/J mouse, CBA/LT mouse, C3HeB/FeJ mouse, ICR(CD1) mouse and FVB/NJ mouse by breeding the hybrid mouse with a high-fat feed or excessively feeding the mouse.
