Abstract:

To prepare a model for numerical analysis expressing a clearance between a rack guide and a conductor in which it is housed.

A rack guide 30 as a component for energizing a rack bar for wheel steering to a predetermined direction is shaped almost like a cylinder, and a concave whose cross section is shaped like a circular arc is formed at one end. A method for preparing a model for carrying out the numerical analysis of a behavior in the conductor of the rack guide 30 comprises a process for defining nodes with predetermined spacing on the central axis of the rack guide; a process for defining spring elements with non-linear characteristics in the nodes; and a process for setting the spring coefficients of an element S for expressing a clearance C. A plurality of elements S facing to angles made by equalizing a circumference with the node N as a center by predetermined values are prepared from the node N. Then, when the rack guide is cut by planes ξ=a0to a10vertical to a central axis 38 of the rack guide including the node N, the spring elements S facing to points where the plane and the outer periphery of the rack guide cross are defined in the node N.
