Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modem in a full duplex transmission system capable of accurately performing transmission and reception even when modems whose transmission levels are different are mixed.
SOLUTION: This modem is provided with a noise level detecting means 2 detecting a noise level on a transmission line, a received level detection circuit 1 detecting the level of signal arriving from the opposite station side modem and a signal transmission circuit 3 deciding the optimum transmission level of a self-station side on the basis of detection levels respectively detected by the received level detecting means and the noise level detection circuit. The circuit 3 preferably compares the ratio (S/N) of a detected value (S) detected by the circuit 1 to the detected value (N) detected by the circuit 2 with a decision reference value preset in accordance with the transmission speed of a modem and decides it so as to exceed the decision reference value.
