Abstract:
PURPOSE: To modify the titled coal into coal having high caking property, preventing spontaneous combustion, having improved econimic efficiency with respect to transportation and improved safety, by slurrying a mixture of coal of low rank of coalification and pitch with water, etc., heat-treating the slurry.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 1pt.wt. coal of low coalification such as sub-bitumious coal, brown coal, etc. is blended with (B) 0.30W2.0pts.wt. pitch, further with water or a mixture of it and an organic solvent, and slurried. The slurry is heat-treated at 150W370°C under pressure ≤ the saturated steam pressure at the temperature, to modify coal of low rank of coalification.
